Love to cook. Do. All the time.
Weeknights though? Different story.
When the schedule is packed tight and the brain is fried, the freezer becomes my best friend.
Recently it found MìLà’s Caramelized Scallion Noodles.
You know MìLà. Probably from the frozen soup dumplings. The Spicy Hot Pot Beef ones are great if you haven’t tried them. The brand expanded to frozen noodles recently.
Most people skip past the pasta aisle in their minds.
Don’t do that.
If you like onion. Like really like onion. This is your sign.
The deal: Four packs for $33 direct from their site. Each pack gives you three things.
- The noodles (thin, spaghetti-style).
- A packet of scallion oil soy sauce.
- Fried scallions in a pouch.
Cooking is absurdly low-effort. Boil water. Drop the noodles in. Six minutes. That’s it.
While they boil. Warm the sauce packet in hot water so the frozen block melts into liquid gold. Drain. Toss. Top with the crunchy fried scallions.
Done.
I made this for a work lunch. Sat at my desk. Ate it in silence.
The noodles have a good chew. The sauce? Light scallion. Not salty-bomb. The fried topping adds crunch. A necessary contrast to the soft noodles.
It tasted restaurant-worthy. Cheap convenience food that doesn’t feel cheap.
No heat here. At all.
If you’re shy around spice these are safe. But safety isn’t the point.
I think they’re better with chaos.
Specifically. Chili crisp.
I’m putting a spoonful of spicy chili oil on the next batch. I hope I’m not the only one who wants to mess with the balance.
Simplicity often masks complexity, but in frozen meals, simplicity is just a promise kept.
So yeah. They’re good.
Probably my new weekly staple.
Will they replace cooking entirely?
Unlikely.
But I’ll buy them again tomorrow.
